ShowCASe  Week155
time once more for our showcase and what wonderful cards we had to choose from for our
Baby Challenge
What a pleasure to do our selection!
Here are our choices!

What a simply fabulous confection!

Simply stunning embossing, so pretty in white with the hint of pink!

Isn't this THE sweetest little elephant.
Chrissie bought the stamp set and this colour ink on the strength of seeing this gorgeous creation!

Week 156 Sketch

It's SKETCH TIME again
at "Less is More" and here is another one drawn by Jen.

The main feature on the band can be any shape you choose, but we would like the layout to remain as here.

Jen won't be joining us again this week but should hopefully be back next time.

In her absence, I'm delighted that Anne (Stargroves) known by many of you as a faithful LIMette and contributor to our challenges, volunteered to jump into the breach with a couple of sample cards. We spent  her birthday together on Wednesday...she, trying to persuade me to follow her lead and buy an eBosser. I'm sorely tempted, but I may need a new laptop first!

Guest Designer
Do swing by her blog and leave a kindly message, details of her cards can be found there!

Card 2

This one is really simple but uses a useful trick to allow part of an image to protrude outside a die cut.
To do this, carefully cut around the protruding part (in this case the head and neck of the goose) with either scissors or a craft knife and extend the cut a little further than the edge of the die to allow it be put above the die when it goes through the machine and so will not get cut!
I stuck the die cut piece onto another circle, the edge of which I coloured with the same Copic marker used to colour the grass on the image. This ensured that the little bit which was cut into would not show on the finished card.
The sentiment was computer generated in Andalus and Passions Conflict fonts. I love this paring!
Anyone wanting to know how to create sentiments like this can check out the tutorials page at the top of the blog which has a link back to the week when it was explained.

This is true simplicity. I like to contrast textured card by using both sides on cards. Here the main body of the card is in a hammered card, but I used the reverse (flat) side for the image and the sentiment panel.
I also like to emboss pieces of card to edge panels like this one. It gives a lovely finished edge.
THe stamps used here were both from Stampin' Up embossed in silver.
I would like to thank all those of you who visited my blog this last week. I really appreciated your kind comments. There is a little extra card over there again this week so do please take a look.
Once more many thanks to Anne and we're waiting to see your cards!

What fabulous stamping!

More incredibly meticulous stamping!

Fabulous ONE LAYER creations, with perfect stamping.

It seems that the One Layer card has become part of everyone's card making routine and the standard of stamping is simply incredible!
We're sure you'll agree that all of these are stunning... and there were SO many wonderful submissions to choose from that selecting the showcase was extremely difficult.

Please take the respective winner/showcase badges ladies and we hope that everyone will join us tomorrow for our new challenge!

Week 155 Theme

For our challenge  this week we have chosen
the theme
New Baby!

It seems that these are cards that we all seem to need on a fairly regular basis.

It's just me this week. Jen needs a little time at the moment so I've put a couple of extra cards here for you to see, although I'm sure you're all bursting with ideas for baby cards.
This one was made with the waste from a cut file .
This is the card made from the Silhouette file which I rescued the other onesie from! The flowers on this one are gently twinkled with Glamour Dust. (Sorry this picture is so dreadful)

A little stamping here!
This little giraffe is from Papertrey Ink and what a cutie he is. The background is a stamp from Hero Arts and  the sentiment stamp says 1989 on it but I'm not sure of the make. I bought it second hand quite some time ago and I simply love it! Some of the panels are popped onto dimensional pads to add a little relief.
A few more die-cuts here. The onesies on the line are from Memory Box and the sentiment from Tattered Lace.
I would like to thank all those crafters who take the time to visit my blog and leave a comment for me there. I truly appreciate it. It takes a long time to visit all your blogs and comment on your work and to have this reciprocated is really most gratifying!
THANK YOU!
There are a few more samples for you to see there!

Week 154 OLC Hearts

This week it's everyone's favourite -
ONE LAYER CARDS
and this week the theme is
Hearts

Jen

Firstly just to let you know I may not be around much over the next couple of weeks but I'll do my best to keep up to date!

For my first card I have used stamp sets from Clearly Besotted using the Say It In Style set and the older Love Hearts.  Firstly I stamped the heart from the Love Hearts set and then waited for it to dry.  Secondly I stamped the You and Me from the sentiments set in versa mark and the heat embossed in pewter embossing powder.  I really love the effect!!
My second card uses a stamp from the Love You More set from Stampin Up.  It's been embossed in gold embossing powder and then red glitter added to the arrow hearts with red stickles.

Here is a stamped heart wreath from Inky Doodles, paired with a heart stamp from Clearly Besotted, masked and stamped twice then coloured with Copics and gently twinkled.

This one uses a stamp from Stampin' Up embossed in red twinkle embossing powder with a sentiment from Magenta stamps. embossed with Black Glint powder.

There are another couple on my personal blog... I tried several, trying to find one which pleased me!!
It's great that One layer cards no longer instil dread into LIMettes, we can't wait to see your submissions!

Week 153 Colour Challenge

Happy New Year

Firstly as it's a new Month we have a new Sponsor and this month one of our very own LIMettes is sponsoring us .. Lizy

She is offering at £15 gift voucher to spend on Stampin Up
To take a look at her online store, click here!

It's the first colour challenge of  2014 and we have chosen

Winter Blues

We would like to see cards with shades of blue

Chrissie

This terrific wading bird is a stamp from The Rubber Stamp Gallery, stamped then masked, so that the graduated shades of blue could be added around it. This has been overstamped with SU Gorgeous Grunge stamps and then the weeds from Technique Tuesday were added after the mask had been removed. The sentiment is from SU Petite Pairs.

More stamping and masking here, this time using a torn Post It note and sponge daubers. The trees and the sentiment are from Darkroom Door.

Jen

For my first card I coloured some white embossing paste with Chipped Sapphire Distress ink and then used a striped mask from Simon Says Stamp.  I then inked some card in the same colour and used the baby die also from Simon Says Stamp to cut out the work.. It's then simply finished with some blue glitter.

For my second card I simply stamped a sentiment from Clearly Besotted onto white card and then added banners cut from strips of card stock and paper.  I then simply stitched across the top.

I also have some New Years Candy on my blog here if anyone would like to enter!!

ShowCASe for final 2013 Challenge!

The 12 Days of Christmas are practically over for this year, so here is the showcase for our 12 Days of Christmas Challenge.
We were delighted that many LIMettes who has not even heard of the carol, took the trouble to find the words in order to illustrate them. The one layer part made it a little trickier too!
Well done everyone!
So without further ado here are our choices!
6-geese-a
Such fun!

Such delicate shading...and what a terrific font!

Terrific masking and subtle colouring... beautiful!

We're sure you'll agree that these are fabulous!
Please take the Showcase badge to display on your blogs.!
